Tensions arise just like always in the Balkans as ethnic conflicts take a toll on the population of the Balkans. In 2033, Croatia invades Liberland in securing more land, which causes huge protests in the former exclave, which are squashed by the military presence.
Yet, Liberland manages to free itself after WW3 as it gains minor territorial concessions out of the war. By this point, more than 700,000 people live in Liberland due to it being a safe haven compared to the rest of Europe. It would bolster 1,000,000 as it would become a part of the last truly free nations of Earth.
